Good Omens 2
Although it’s a lengthy four years between seasons, the relationship between demon Crowley (David Tennant) and angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) in 2019’s original Good Omens (also on this list) was so incredibly endearing that not a day has passed without fans demanding more. The much-awaited second season, which has the deviously heavenly odd couple using their magic once more to try and prevent yet another apocalypse, does not disappoint. I’m a Virgo is a surrealist comedy starring Jharrel Jerome as Cootie, a typical 19-year-old who just so happens to be 13 feet tall. Riley, the film’s creator and director, is known for his political and social commentary. Up until his larger-than-life existence is unavoidably found, Cootie is raised in secret by Aunt Lafrancine (Carmen Ejogo) and Uncle Martisse (Mike Epps). For the first time, gentle giant Cootie is navigating friendships and the outside world, dealing with everything from romance to the public’s reaction to a gigantic Black man walking around Oakland.
Carnival Row
Carnival Row carries a hint of “what might have been.” Its promising first season explored deeper themes of race, class, and immigration in a fantastical setting where dominating humans and immigrant fae coexist uneasily. Unfortunately, the second—and ultimately final—season was severely delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Still, for a comparatively short binge, there’s a nice package of eighteen exquisitely made episodes to appreciate. In the first season, as a series of murders shock the gaslit metropolis of The Burgue, human police officer Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom) and his old flame, fae Vignette “Vini” Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne), are introduced.

Tales From the Loop is still one of the most captivating Prime Video series, even though it is a few years old. The first season of this horror anthology series Them, which was created by Little Marvin and executive produced by Lena Waithe of Queen & Slim, takes place in 1950s Los Angeles and centers on the Emory family as they relocate into an all-white neighborhood. Everything goes about as one might imagine, with Livia (Deborah Ayorinde) being quickly ensnared in their new home by the local housewives, who imitate Stepford, and make her life a misery, with Betty (Alison Pill) serving as the organized leader. Husband Henry (Ashley Thomas) experiences physical abuse and harassment at work outside the home.
